On Saturday, October 14th, 2006, The Canyon Club, in conjunction with the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff"s station, is hosting a concert/fundraiser for deputy Jim Mulay, who was critically injured, while on duty, during the attempted apprehension of an armed bank robbery suspect on August 28th, 2006, in the city of Malibu.
Artists appearing at the benefit concert include Velvet Revolver, Rhino Bucket, Starf@ckers All Star Band incl. Terry Nunn, C.C. Deville, Dilana and surprise guest.

Duff and Scott are set to appear as guest judges on the Tuesday, April 25th episode of Nashville Star, airing live from the Acuff Theater in Nashville, TN at 10PM/9 central on the USA Network. Nashville Star is a joint effort between RCA Records and USA Network to conduct a nationwide talent search for the next great country-music artist.

Blabbermouth reports that drummer Brian Tichy will be the temporary replacement for Matt on the first 6 or 7 dates of the upcoming tour. Matt hopes to join the band onstage again for the Ozzfest dates later this month. Some of you will remember Brian Tichy from the Slash´s Snakepittour 1995 and recently as the drummer for Billy Idol. So keep your fingers crossed for Matt.

MATT SORUM suffered a fractured hand as the result of a recent boating accident, and it appears that he will be unable to perform on the first few dates of the band"s upcoming headlining tour. Matt is currently in physical therapy and plans to resume playing with the band on the first date of Ozzfest. It is still undecided as to who the band will choose to serve as a temporary drummer during SORUM"s absence. The band is still scheduled to play those shows. Best wishes to Matt!

ABC ePrep reports: VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan says that the mood in London in the wake of the tragic attacks is very different from the mood only a few days ago, when VELVET REVOLVER performed at the London Live 8 concert. He described the atmosphere at the show as a, "worldwide...just groove, peace fest." He says he thought the feeling would last, "and then this thing happens in London, and the focus definitely got turned."
McKagan says that VELVET REVOLVER just wrapped up their tour and now they"re taking a break. They"ll start working on their sophomore album before they hit the road again with Ozzfest in August. They"re playing the last week of Ozzfest, replacing IRON MAIDEN, who had previously committed to play shows elsewhere on those days.

last night in denmark we had one of the best shows of this tour...amazing. unfortunately, scott sprained his ankle VERY bad (we thought it was broken) during the last note of the last song (slither). scott, being the trooper that he is, will play tonite in brussels and saturday at live8. what a bummmer, we"ve been touring for 14-15 months and we are finally going to get a break and scott will be bed-ridden for at least a couple of weeks. please send good thoughts scott"s way!

Slash is in London today to present a Mojo lifetime achievement award to guitarist Jeff Beck.
Velvet Revolver will record an acoustic version of You Got No Right, to be released as the 4th single off Contraband. The band will hit the studio in Prague next week with a full string section to put the performance to tape.
Velvet Revolver are confirmed for July 2nd"s Live8 benefit concert in Hyde Park, London. Other bands that will also be playing are REM, U2, Coldplay, Keane, Razorlight, Mariah Carey, Madonna and many more. The event will be broadcast live through BBC One, Two and Three. You will only be able to go if you win tickets through entering a phone text competition. Details of the competition will be announced on June 6th through BBC television and all UK radio channels!
VR shot a video for the song "Come On Come In" that they recorded for the Fantastic Four soundtrack. The soundtrack will be released on July 5th, but there"s no airing date available for the video at this time.
